THE CUBE opened tonight, 28 December, to the public during the VIP event of 2021 Kaohsiung International Container Arts Festival, Taiwan. The Festival’s site is in the regenerated art district of the city Pier 9 – a prime location in the Kaohsiung harbour. The event kicks off the 2021 Taiwan Lantern Festival with over a hundred thousand expected visits to the pavilion over the show period.
The pulsating luminous containers hung from the structural frame appear to be floating amongst the lines of light. They offer the visitors a unique interactive experience as well as transforming Kaohsiung Port’s industrial surrounding into an alluring skyline.
International travel restrictions meant unfortunately that QIU’s Creative Leadership team couldn’t attend the event in person. A video message of them welcoming the visitors and introducing THE CUBE was projected on the backwall of the main stage. Mr Ficus Hsu, QIU’s Taipei based manager, spoke at the opening.
‘We injected our own culture of innovative thinking, challenging everything the brief had to offer, and coming up with solutions together with the client and the local team’
Ficus Hsu
